Daily Grind: Great

Name: Vin (aka alt nothing)
How Vin feels today: Great @ 1:58:00 PM
What Vin really wants today: Finish up remaining work tasks and attempt to enjoy a nice Fall weekend.

Music Stuck in Head: Lounge Act / Nirvana
It's an alternative kind of day so far.

Stuff to do today:

  • Replay Brutal Legend demo for Xbox 360
  • Yea, it was that good
  • ...and it was just a demo
  • Pre-order full game when Rocktober comes along
  • Pat self on back for actually posting a dailygrind every day this week
  • Reward self with cookie

Daily Grind: Relaxed

Name: Vin (aka jim lookalike)
How Vin feels today: Relaxed @ 2:16:00 PM
What Vin really wants today: Breathe easier now that meetings went semi-well this morning. Make time for a haircut this weekend so people can stop saying I look like Jim from The Office (keep the smug attitude in check though).

Music Stuck in Head: Yesterday / Guns n' Roses
Take a stroll down memory lane and watch the video on YouTube. I remember someone telling me that they used a stand-in for Slash at the time. You be the judge.

Stuff to do today:

  • Stop making baseless accusations about Slash's appearance in certain GnR videos
  • Dig up old tapes of college band playing a calypso version of Sweet Child of Mine
  • On second thought, keep tapes buried and hope they are never found again
  • Note that this may be the first week in a long time where a daily grind entry has been posted every day for the span of the week
  • But the week ain't over yet

I should probably read up some more on proper work/music techniques from today's batch of links.

Stuff to do today:

  • Code code code code code
  • Take lunch
  • Hey, this instant mac and cheese wasn't as bad as initially thought

Want to know what the best sounds for getting work done are?Want to know what the best sounds for getting work done are?

It depends on whether your office or workspace is noisy enough that a good kind of noise or music is preferable to the natural cacophony. It depends on your personal attention span, and how likely you are to fiddle with controls versus letting a music stream trickle past your ears.

Daily Grind: Frenetic

Name: Vin (aka refresher)
How Vin feels today: Frenetic @ 2:40:00 PM
What Vin really wants today: So much work to do and only so much time to do it in. Although, it would probably help if I didn't volunteer unnecessary work for myself. Note to self: stop talking.

Music Stuck in Head: Bring Back the News / God Street Wine
This helps.

Stuff to do today:

  • Continue plugging away at overdue work projects
  • Attempt to post new photo to photoblog before the day is out
  • Thank Alpha for showing me the Internet phenomenon that is longcat
  • ...whats that you say? You don't know what that is?
  • Longcat is well, loooooooooooooooong

While Facebook has been growing in prominence as a digital ad destination, it's still had to do some convincing to combat the industry attitude that social-media advertising doesn't work.

Munch on snacks all day, rather than having a big meal. The key is to not get a spike of sugar intake (followed by the inevitable crash). The same goes for caffeine. Break your consumption down into small doses.

What Vin really wants today: Figure where this burst of energy has suddenly come from, maximize full coding potential from said burst.

Stuff to do today:

  • Video preview is pretty funny
  • Note video makes a little bit more sense if you've played through first episode
  • ...also helps if you are a fan of the series
  • Move onto other topics
  • Figure out way to encourage people to comment more on GLM
  • Better content? Better badges? Create logins?
  • Suggestions appreciated
  • Twenty bucks says no one comments on this post
