Ten awesome Super Nintendo RPG games you should probably play at least once in your life.Ten awesome Super Nintendo RPG games you should probably play at least once in your life.

I'm not sure if I should be proud or just plain sad to say that I've only completed five of the ten games on this list. Oh whatever, I'm proud - those were good times. For those of you who would like to relive the Super Nintendo glory days check out the OpenEmu project. It's a fantastic iTunes-like emulator for Mac that is currently under development (thanks Ant).

Panic takes a look at the magic behind the album art color schemes in iTunes 11.Panic takes a look at the magic behind the album art color schemes in iTunes 11.

If you've used iTunes 11 you may have noticed the adaptive colors used in some of your favorite albums. Apple could have just displayed a thumbnail and used the same colors for text everywhere but instead chose to theme each album to go along with it's individual art. This kind of little touch is really what has always se Apple apart from the rest. The good folks at Panic delve into the kind of programming and logic that may have gone into this kind of display paradigm. It's a great read even if you aren't a developer but its an even greater read if you because they include sample code.

University of Chicago receives mystery package addressed to one Henry (Indiana) Jones Jr.University of Chicago receives mystery package addressed to one Henry (Indiana) Jones Jr.

An interesting read if only for the care and detail that went into the package itself. The package was received by the admissions department and reportedly almost thrown out until a student worker made the discovery. Could this be some new viral marketing in the making or a student with a really unique application package? Who knows - but either way, this is pretty neat.

Apple selects the Best of 2012 awards from notable iTunes Store apps and games.Apple selects the Best of 2012 awards from notable iTunes Store apps and games.

For the first time in two years, no photography apps made it in to the top listings. 2012 also marks the first year that an Entertainment app was given an editor’s choice award. As always, during the end of the year wrap up Apple highlights games and apps from a wide variety of categories, so it’s well worth skimming the list for hidden gems.

Everything you never knew about Google's top secret lab where they pursue future ideas.Everything you never knew about Google's top secret lab where they pursue future ideas.

According to the article, this magical place (dubbed 'Google X') is where Google may or may not be working on the following futuristic concepts:  1) an internet fridge that orders food when it's low, 2) driver-less cars, 3) space elevators, 4) personal assistant robots for your home, 5) networked coffee pots and gardening tools and finally 6) training monkeys to fly airplanes for special covert operations.

Apple pulls the curtain back on iTunes 10.5.1 with iTunes Match.Apple pulls the curtain back on iTunes 10.5.1 with iTunes Match.

Unlike competing cloud storage music services from Amazon and Google, iTunes Match saves a lot of bandwidth and time in your initial synchronization, because Apple can identify which songs in your iTunes library are already available in the iTunes Store. If Apple can positively match a song in your library with any of the 20 million tracks for sale in the iTunes Store, it won’t bother uploading that song; only unmatched songs get uploaded to the cloud.

You won't be seeing Siri on older iDevices anytime in the near future. You won't be seeing Siri on older iDevices anytime in the near future.

That's a shame but it makes sense given Apple's strategy and history of making certain features exclusive to particular iPhone models. Not clear on why devices other than iPhones have to miss out on this. The iPad 2 should have enough horsepower to run Siri without an issue (same for their notebook line as well).

Before and after renderings of Apple's Fifth Avenue cube redesign. Before and after renderings of Apple's Fifth Avenue cube redesign.

The new Apple cube will sport only fifteen panes of glass as opposed to the previous use of a whopping ninety panes of glass. The cost of upgrading their iconic glass cube on Fifth Avenue? Just a mere $6.6 million bucks, which in reality is actually chump change for Apple. If you're interested in the technology behind how these giant peices of glass are actually made MacRumors points to this article over on ifoAppleStore.com.

An interesting video showing off the impressive CGI used in Game of Thrones. An interesting video showing off the impressive CGI used in Game of Thrones.

Andy Gavin has written a post with a behind the scenes video from HBO's Game of Thrones depicting how most of the locations are built using modern CGI and clever scouting.  If you've watched the show (and I highly recommend that you do) some of the per-CGI moments in the video may actually take you by surprise, once you see their post-CGI counterparts.

Turns out that coin tosses don't really provide fifty-fifty odds.Turns out that coin tosses don't really provide fifty-fifty odds.

As usual, it's humanity that messes things up. When flipped by a machine, coins come up heads a solid fifty percent of the time, and tails the other fifty percent. Put the fate of the coin in grubby human hands and the odds tip slightly in favor of the side that faces up just before the coin is flipped. The side that was face up at the beginning of the flip has a fifty-one percent chance of landing face-up at the end. Humans are not as precise as machines, and so the coin rotates around several axes instead of one.

Some casting news for next season of Game of Thrones for those interested. Some casting news for next season of Game of Thrones for those interested.

After seeing the first season I've been hooked on this show and can't wait for season two (which will most likely surface next year). The books are also a fun read as well and I recommend them to anyone looking to pick up on their summer reading.  If you are more of a summer television watcher then go watch the series, you won't be disappointed.

Leaving this here for those of you looking for some travel inspiration and/or food for thought (if any of these joints happen to be in your neighborhood). Unfortunatly the closest one to my neighborhood happens to be a couple states away over in Nebraska. Although if I had my way I'd probably pay a vist to the solar-powered Burger King for giggles.

Nintendo states no interest in bringing games to iPhone or Android.Nintendo states no interest in bringing games to iPhone or Android.

According to AllThingsD Nintendo's stock took a beating after this announcement. From Nintendo's point of view this an obvious move. They make the hardware, they develop games on their hardware. Would you expect to see Apple putting iOS on an Android phone in the near future? If you said yes, proceed to smack yourself in the face. Now do it again.

Apple files and receives trademark usage for iTunes Live.Apple files and receives trademark usage for iTunes Live.

No one is quite sure what this newly trademarked service will actually do. It may refer to iTunes in the cloud for purchasing music online without actually using the iTunes software or perhaps it could be a method for seeing (and purchasing) live concerts as they are performed. Either way, purchasing will probably involved.
