Modern Family's Ty Burrell to star in sequel to the recently relaunched Muppets franchise.Modern Family's Ty Burrell to star in sequel to the recently relaunched Muppets franchise.

Ty Burrell, one of the stars of ABC's Modern Family, is set to join the cast of Disney's sequel to The Muppets as one of the movie’s human stars. Christoph Waltz was in talks for the role, but the Austrian actor’s schedule prevented the studio from making a deal. The adventure moves from Hollywood to Europe, and while the film is expected to have a slew of cameos -- as is the Muppets' movie tradition -- one of the key roles is an Interpol inspector, whom Burrell will portray.

Apple files and receives trademark usage for iTunes Live.Apple files and receives trademark usage for iTunes Live.

No one is quite sure what this newly trademarked service will actually do. It may refer to iTunes in the cloud for purchasing music online without actually using the iTunes software or perhaps it could be a method for seeing (and purchasing) live concerts as they are performed. Either way, purchasing will probably involved.

Well, this whole story just keeps getting more interesting every minute. Apple has acknowledged the existence of said missing device and sent notice asking for return. Gizmodo has decided to post the letter along with a casual smart-alecky response as well. Not a good way to win brownie points or future media event invitations.

If you haven't heard by now (which you probably have but we'll continue anyway) Gizmodo mysteriously got their hands on a prototype of the next generation iPhone which was supposedly left in a bar by an Apple employee. This breach of Apple security and the entire story itself is raising all kinds of questions about media ethics.

Buying either game will set you back just nine bucks a piece which isn't so bad when you consider what the Nintendo DS versions of these games are going for. A lot can be said for being able to use tactile buttons though.

I haven't actually tried the Wii version of the Ghostbusters video game but I just recently finished playing through it on the Xbox 360. Overall, I give the game a C+/B- as it was enjoyable but had the potential to be so much more. Maybe this modification was missing link from the equation (but probably not).

This broken glass stair will set you back just $2,500 (if you use the BUY IT NOW option on eBay's website) otherwise you are left to toil with the other bidders - of which there are none at the time of posting this.

I actually am quite addicted to using hot corners functionality on my beloved copy of Mac OS X for various tasks. This seems like it would be an absolute perfect fit for the iPad's overly thick bezel.

Hacking cable modems for profit and advertising this fact publicly not the smartest idea.Hacking cable modems for profit and advertising this fact publicly not the smartest idea.

Each charge carries a maximum of 20 years in jail and a $250,000 fine. Selling hacked cable modems and advertising them openly may have been a decent business model a decade ago, but it hardly seems worth bothering about today.

Some interesting bits of free software to try out if you haven't already. I still haven't gotten around to testing out Google Chrome on the beloved Mac. I'll be giving that a whirl today. Also, it's a shame that Magnifique doesn't work with Snow Leopard - would've liked to try that one out as well.

But Google's latest plans appear to be aimed at countering that 'closed loop' business model with a product that can run any application on any network -- a tactic that reminds experts of the battles between Microsoft and Apple over computer operating systems in the 1980s.
