- Eight websites you need to stop building according to The Oatmeal.
After carefully perusing this comic (and laughing a little bit too loud for office-level volumes) I was a little discomforted by the fact that the Pork'd mock design looks ridiculously similar to the current version of GLM. I guess I was a little generic with this iteration, might be time for a redesign methinks.
- The top eleven signs that a geek probably made your lunch.
'11. It's served to you by a roomba.' The possibility of having lunch (or any meal) served via Roomba gets my inner geek juices flowing. Plus, if any of it spills along the way it will most likely be cleaned up on the next cleaning voyage.
- An illustrated guide to proper use grammatical use of the semicolon.
Read over this informative post by The Oatmeal next time your thinking about adding a semicolon to that sentence. Use it improperly and an angry gorilla will come to maul you (notice the lack of semicolon in this description).
- Ten words that you really need to stop misspelling.
I'm pretty sure that I'm guilty of screwing up the 'you're, your' and 'it's, its' rules on multiple occasions. My apologies to all of the English majors who happen to frequent this site.
- Why it's better to pretend you don't know anything about computers.
Another illustrated guide from the folks at TheOatmeal.com on a subject most geeks know all too well about. Good luck to all of us this holiday season.
- An illustrated process on how a web design can go straight to hell.
I am printing this illustration just as I type this post and will be hanging it on my wall in the next five minutes or so. I'm sure all of my fellow web design nerds will follow suit shortly.
- Fifteen things worth knowing about your beloved cup of coffee.
An awesome (as always) illustrated list from TheOatmeal revealing some coffee factoids that you may not have previously known about. Did you know that coffee is the second most traded commodity on Earth?
- Seven reasons to keep tour Tyrannosaur off crack cocaine.
4. It'll worsen his paranoia about an impending ice age.
- Ten things that you really need to stop tweeting about.
An alternative title for this post would have been 'ten reasons why I'm not on Twitter'.
- Want to start having a lighter lunch? Try drinking a glass of milk in the morning.
Particular substances present in milk such as whey protein and casein have been found to suppress appetite in animal and human studies. Fruit juice is nutritious in its own right and we encourage people to continue having their fruit juice during the day.
