Most other floppy disk manufacturers had long since pulled out of the market, and Sony itself has already ceased sales to most of its overseas markets. With the release of the iMac in 1998, Apple was the first computer maker to take the plunge and eliminate the floppy completely.

I like how Sony's marketing department is billing this a way to 'graduate' for respective owners of the Nintendo Wii console.  Upgrading your current PS3 setup with these new motion controllers (with video camera) will set you back a hundred bucks or less.

The company said the judgment marks the second-largest anti-spam award ever. In November 2008, Facebook won an $873 million judgment against Adam Guerbuez and his business, Atlantis Blue Capital, who bombarded users with sexually explicit spam messages.

Earlier this month Xerox said it would begin selling digital printers for packaging and labels, aiming to tap a new market. Xerox had $1.22 billion in cash and cash equivalents at the end of last quarter, with about $6.7 billion in long-term debt.

The remaining brands in the top five all lost value but retained their ranks from last year. Microsoft's brand value fell 4 percent to $56.64 billion to take third, while General Electric's value fell 10 percent to $47.77 billion for fourth. Nokia lost 3 percent to place fifth at $34.86 billion.

Apple must be doing something right to go from, in the US retail premium PC market, 66 percent revenue share in first quarter 2008 to 91 percent at the end of second quarter 2009. The company has masterfully navigated the stormy economic waters that battered so many other companies.
