A step by step tutorial regarding how to build your very own 8-bit centerpieces.A step by step tutorial regarding how to build your very own 8-bit centerpieces.

I have decided that I am going to make like twenty of these things and strategically place them all over my property.  Recent studies have shown that Piranha Plants, in addition to making any backyard or home garden more attractive, also make for thicker grass. Recent studies have also shown an alarming increase in the number of fabricated studies.

Final Harry Potter movie breaks box office records worldwide.Final Harry Potter movie breaks box office records worldwide.

Here in the states, Harry and friends (and enemies) took over the top spot from 'The Dark Knight' for best opening weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, the final Potter film took in $168.55 million. Christopher Nolan's second Batman grossed a robust $158.4 million when it opened in 2008. Around the world, the cumulative Potter numbers were even larger. The movie grossed about $307 million, outgrossing the previous world box office record holder, 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,' by almost 20 percent.

Reviews starting to come in for the very last Harry Potter movie.Reviews starting to come in for the very last Harry Potter movie.

It ends well. After eight films in 10 years and a cumulative global box-office take of more than $6.3 billion, the most successful franchise in the history of movies comes to an obligatory -- and quite satisfying -- conclusion in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Fully justifying the decision, once thought purely mercenary, of splitting J.K. Rowling's final book into two parts, this is an exciting and, to put it mildly, massively eventful finale that will grip and greatly please anyone who has been at all a fan of the series up to now.

Twitter glitch that allowed anyone to follow anybody quickly resolved. Phew.Twitter glitch that allowed anyone to follow anybody quickly resolved. Phew.

For a brief couple of moments yesterday it was possible to have anyone follow you on the micro-blogging service. That wondrous feeling was countered by Twitter setting all accounts to zero followers - to which a collective gasp across the Interwebs could be heard miles around.

Turns out that great big red spot is not just a plain old oval after all. It seems to act as a mood ring of sorts to indicate weather and circulation patterns for nearby storms systems. You can see this glow for yourself at home, assuming you have your very own infrared telescope facility.

Name: Vin (aka notmyjorb)
How Vin feels today: Laid back @ 3:56:00 PM
What Vin really wants today: For this day to be over so I can get to some important Halloween activities which consist mainly of eating copious amounts of candy until I explode.

Music Stuck in Head: Run this Town / The Apples
Discovered some great new music while listening to The Bunny. This is really good stuff, you can find it on iTunes.

Stuff to do today:

  • Finalize 'costume' for Halloween trick or treating candy grab
  • Costume is in quotes because there is no costume actually prepared
  • Go as BookFace
  • Sign up for Sirius /XM trial so I can listen in on Festival 8 this weekend
  • Find time to play new chapter of Tales from Monkey Island as well
  • When it finally becomes available
