Google now offers up cheap storage for your photos.Google now offers up cheap storage for your photos.

For five bucks a year you'll get access to twenty gigabytes of space that you can use to hold up to 10,000 high-resolution photos accessed through Picasa.  One drawback is that you can only backup JPG files for now.

Free you say? What's the catch you ask? You'll be prompted to set Google as your homepage and to give their Chrome browser a whirl if you haven't already. Not a bad tradeoff really. Merry holidays from Google to you.

This bit of Google software might be just the reason why Apple decided to recently acquire their own little map company. Also, this can't be good news for the folks over at TomTom.

Ten things that Google has taught us.Ten things that Google has taught us.

Without vision, even the most focused passion is a battery without a device. 'Don't be evil' is a vague incantation. But Page and Brin's effort to make 'all the world's information available,'and to first and foremost serve users, is a vision.

You can try Microsoft's implementation here and Google's is somewhere over here. On the Microsoft side, searching for a particular topic brought me to my cousin's Twitter account which was kind of humorous but slightly scary at the same time. Good work, Dan.

We like to think of Building Maker as a cross between Google Maps and a gigantic bin of building blocks. Basically, you pick a building and construct a model of it using aerial photos and simple 3D shapes – both of which we provide.
