Secretary of the Tasmanian Drag Racing Association John Hurley says the modified 1987 Ford Falcon hearse was a challenging choice of vehicle. 'I guess there's all sorts of weird and wonderful machines that come out to play in drag racing.'

Eleven minute solar eclipse won't happen again until the year 3034 says NASA.Eleven minute solar eclipse won't happen again until the year 3034 says NASA.

NASA said on its website the eclipse was annular, meaning the moon will block most of the sun's middle, but not its edges, causing it to look like a ring. This blockage will last for 11 minutes, 8 seconds, an annual duration NASA said would not be exceeded until December 23, 3043.

Presented by Homer Simpson on Late Night with David Letterman. Sadly, 'Cougar Town' is not a show about people getting attacked by giant cats.

Free coffee available to New Jersey Turnpike drivers on New Year's Eve.Free coffee available to New Jersey Turnpike drivers on New Year's Eve.

Not a bad idea at all. Officials hope this will help drivers fight off fatigue and make it home safe and sound. Other locations seem to be following suit, 7-11 (at least in Tuscon) is giving away free cups of joe as well.

Daily Grind: Slightly bored

Name: Vin (aka caulking madman)
How Vin feels today: Slightly bored @ 2:50:46 PM
What Vin really wants today: Go home right after slow workday finishes up and caulk things that don't necessarily need to be caulked because I want to label myself as a 'handy homeowner'. Also because my back patio door leaks when it rains (no, that's not code for something else).

Music Stuck in Head: Stuck in the Middle With You / Stealers Wheel
I always thought this was a Dylan tune until I just looked it up on Wikipedia. Wow, Stealers Wheel? Really?

Stuff to do today:

  • Buy more caulk
  • Start making New Year's resolutions for myself
  • Make resolution to get back on track with daily grind posting
  • ...starting today
  • Its always good to start resolutions early
  • Although it's a short a week so this little item may not kick off appropriately
  • Try really hard
  • Thank MacInquirer for rekindling my inspiration for making a new DotComic in the near future
  • Also thank them for carefully reading the about page of GLM

Smaller means faster in the microelectronic world, but physicists Lev Levitin and Tommaso Toffoli at Boston University in Massachusetts, have slapped a speed limit on computing, no matter how small the components get.

...that doesn't mean you're going to reel in the Mr. Spock of the sea. Fish ears are inside their bodies. But, as in humans, their ears perform a major role in sensing movement and whether the animal is upright — abilities that are important for survival.
