Nirvana reunion song to be part of soundtrack to Dave Grohl's directorial debut film.Nirvana reunion song to be part of soundtrack to Dave Grohl's directorial debut film.

The song you heard last night at the 12/12/12 concert (if you stayed up late enough) was titled 'Cut Me Some Slack'.  This song is the result of the Nirvana reunion / Paul McCartney mashup and it will serve as part of the soundtrack to Sound City. Sound City ity is a film that Dave Grohl directed. It's a documentary chronicling the history of the Sound City recording studio over in Van Nuys, California. It has a notable history with some of the most legendary artists in music history laying down tracks there.

Before and after renderings of Apple's Fifth Avenue cube redesign. Before and after renderings of Apple's Fifth Avenue cube redesign.

The new Apple cube will sport only fifteen panes of glass as opposed to the previous use of a whopping ninety panes of glass. The cost of upgrading their iconic glass cube on Fifth Avenue? Just a mere $6.6 million bucks, which in reality is actually chump change for Apple. If you're interested in the technology behind how these giant peices of glass are actually made MacRumors points to this article over on ifoAppleStore.com.

Interesting article regarding the overall health snd stress levels of those who live in cities compared to those who live out in those rural areas (read country). So what happens if you live in the suburbs of a major city? I'm sure it must be like having the best of both worlds all the time.

Everything you never knew about ball lightning hallucinations.Everything you never knew about ball lightning hallucinations.

For hundreds of years eyewitnesses have reported brief encounters with the golf ball- to tennis ball-size orbs of electricity. But scientists have been unable to agree on how and why ball lightning forms, since the phenomenon is rare and very short-lived.

But artist Justin Gignac still sees stories even in the ubiquity, and is out to prove that with some clever package design, Manhattan’s refuse can be art. Gignac sells plastic cubes of trash from the Big Apple for $50 a pop.

In addition to allowing us to peer through paper or paint, and into cells, the technique opens up the possibility that opaque materials might be good optical elements in nano-scale devices, at levels where the construction of transparent lenses is particularly challenging.

Daily Grind: Fantastic

Name: Vin (aka hat tipper)
How Vin feels today: Fantastic @ 2:11:12 PM
What Vin really wants today: To continue absorption of certain programming material for a certain mobile platform in a certain amount of uncertain time.

Music Stuck in Head: Electrocute / God Street Wine
Mostly in honor of the recent God Street Wine reunion announcement that was just recently posted. Must. Contain. Excitement. Link here for those interested.

Stuff to do today:

  • Continue containing excitement
  • Attempt to purchase tickets to said reunion shows first
  • Seems like it's a good week to be a fan of jambands past and present
  • And by 'present' meaning this little Phish link that popped up this week
  • Attend movie in full-on Avatar costume for giggles (since it will most likely be in 3D and all)
  • Ben Stiller FTW - abandon previous to-do item
  • Get back to iPhone development

LoftCube: an all-in-one dwelling designed to be easily dropped into place on a rooftop via a crane. This modern design lets in plenty of natural light and would look perfect atop a tall building.
