Adobe gives up on trying to get Flash to work on mobile devices.Adobe gives up on trying to get Flash to work on mobile devices.

Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations. Some of our source code licensees may opt to continue working on and releasing their own implementations.

Begone memory leaks! Firefox 7 will reportedly use up to fifty percent less memory.Begone memory leaks! Firefox 7 will reportedly use up to fifty percent less memory.

If you leave Firefox running for any length of time its memory footprint seems to keep increasing. This can escalate to the point where it stops responding and there’s nothing to do but restart the browser. Personally, I’ve seen this problem have less of an impact during my daily usage since moving to Firefox 5, but it’s still there. Mozilla knows this problem exists and aims to fix it. By the time we see Firefox 7 available for download it will use as much as 50% less memory than any version that has gone before, as well as having those problematic memory leaks fixed.

Ten sites that every developer should have in their bookmarks file.Ten sites that every developer should have in their bookmarks file.

No matter what kind of development you do, at least three of these sites will be helpful to you in some kind of programming endeavor. I've just recently discovered the browser sandbox over at Spoon.net (though I'm a still little partial to IETester).

Opera Mini browser app now available for your beloved iPhone.Opera Mini browser app now available for your beloved iPhone.

Users of the iPhone now have an alternative to Safari when browsing the web thanks to Opera's latest and recently approved app offering. The Register has a thorough review of the app on the other side of the click. I'll admit it feels pretty snappy on my 3GS although sometimes page rendering is a bit wonky.

Want to run Internet Explorer 9 on your Windows XP machine? Tough luck.Want to run Internet Explorer 9 on your Windows XP machine? Tough luck.

Microsoft has decided to give Windows XP users the finger and not allow them to use their latest and greatest web browser until they upgrade their OS over to Vista or Windows 7.  Yet another reason why I'll be sticking with Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari or any other superior browser.  Good work, Microsoft.

The good news is that there will be better support for web standards and a brand new JavaScript engine that promises to improve overall speed and page loading times. Bad news is that it's still Internet Explorer. You can take an early version of IE9 for a test drive on the other side of the click.

The folks at Mozilla are quite proud of their recent little growth spurt which was measured by tracking the amount of times that Firefox actually phones home to check for software updates (apparently it does this every 24 hours).
