- Warner would really like you to upgrade your DVD collection over to Blu-ray.
Do you have a whole bunch of Warner movies still festering on DVD? If those DVDs happen to be in their small list of seventy-five titles - you can upgrade them over to that fancy new Blu-ray format... for a small fee. What, did you think it was free? Silly human.
- Lord of the Rings trilogy will be available on Blu-ray next April.
The April release is just for the standard theatrical cuts and not the extended editions. The extended editions are expected sometime in 2011 closer to the release of The Hobbit.
- Sony to unveil a brand new digitial distribution service sometime in 2010.
Sony plans to launch a new online service to distribute movies, music, books and other content to network-capable TVs, Blu-ray players, ebooks and others in a bid to add value to its hardware.
- Some rumored specs leak out regarding the fabled Wii 2 console.
MaxConsole has some alleged leaked tidbits on Nintendo's next console in which they believe that the device will have Blu-ray support and finally boast high definition capability. Oh, and it will hit stores sometime in late 2010.
- Netflix streaming coming soon to Playstation 3 consoles.
The bad news: PS3 owners will need to put a special Blu-ray disc in the game console, which will enable streaming via the Blu-ray's BD Live functionality. That's a departure from all other Netflix-enabled devices, which just have the Netflix option as a built-in feature.
- Disney would like you to be able to watch your movies anywhere.
Disney's new initiative is called 'Keychest' and you just might be able to have your movies delivered via some nifty cloud-computing concepts. They also hope that the initiative will prolong the relevancy of DVDs and Blu-ray so don't go throwing away all of your discs just yet.
- Blu-ray won't replacing the DVD drive in computers anytime soon according to analyst.
At least not until 2013 anyway.
- Limited edition of Pixar's UP to include your very own Luxo Jr. Lamp.
Three formats of the movie (DVD, Blu-ray, and digital) plus Luxo Jr. will set you back $140 bucks.

The real news here is the $45.99 price tag. I'll wait for the non-special edition release, thanks.
