Google Fiber not coming to your neighborhood any time soon.Google Fiber not coming to your neighborhood any time soon.

Turns out that Google would need about $140 billion to roll out their fiber network to the entire continental United States. At present time, they only have about $45 billion in the bank and that doesn't begin to include other associative costs.  Long story short, if you really want to try out Google Fiber you should think about moving to Kansas.

Rock Band 3 to arrive just in time for this year's holiday season.Rock Band 3 to arrive just in time for this year's holiday season.

Details are scarce at this point but a posting on Rock Band's Facebook page promises to 'innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band'.

Daily Grind: Fantastic

Name: Vin (aka hat tipper)
How Vin feels today: Fantastic @ 2:11:12 PM
What Vin really wants today: To continue absorption of certain programming material for a certain mobile platform in a certain amount of uncertain time.

Music Stuck in Head: Electrocute / God Street Wine
Mostly in honor of the recent God Street Wine reunion announcement that was just recently posted. Must. Contain. Excitement. Link here for those interested.

Stuff to do today:

  • Continue containing excitement
  • Attempt to purchase tickets to said reunion shows first
  • Seems like it's a good week to be a fan of jambands past and present
  • And by 'present' meaning this little Phish link that popped up this week
  • Attend movie in full-on Avatar costume for giggles (since it will most likely be in 3D and all)
  • Ben Stiller FTW - abandon previous to-do item
  • Get back to iPhone development

Want to know just how speedy YouTube is in your area?Want to know just how speedy YouTube is in your area?

An interesting little page that I didn't know existed on YouTube's website. I'm quite surprised to see my ISP performing as well it does compared to the rest of the state of New York (or in some cases the rest of the country).

A handy tutorial regarding how to make your very own rubber band bass.A handy tutorial regarding how to make your very own rubber band bass.

Yes, it's true - a rubber band bass guitar will make yet another lovely addition to any office desk or cubicle. Also, making rubber band music with your co-workers is a great way to pass the time (play at your own risk).

The results will shock you. Ok, no they actually won't shock you at all. Do it fast and you'll have less pain. Don't you feel better knowing that this is scientifically proven now? No? Yea, me neither.

No Doubt not too happy with how their likeness was used in 'Band Hero'.No Doubt not too happy with how their likeness was used in 'Band Hero'.

In one instance of how 'Band Hero' allows for unauthorized use of No Doubt's likeness, a feature on the game has the band's Gwen Stefani singing Rolling Stones song 'Honky Tonk Women,' the band's lawsuit states.

He argued that imposing stricter regulations would pit network providers against application providers in a way that would ruin the Internet's potential for economic growth and societal change.

Touch Arcade gets some hands-on time with Rock Band: iPhone.Touch Arcade gets some hands-on time with Rock Band: iPhone.

playing the tracks in the iPhone Rock Band works just like its console big brother in that every note you miss causes the music to be interrupted. This seems to add so much more to the game than just tapping along to a song like other similar games on the platform...

David Bowie officially joins Rock Band lineup... in LEGO form.David Bowie officially joins Rock Band lineup... in LEGO form.

Bowie will also be joined by a LEGO version of Iggy Pop. I'm still not understanding the whole Rock Band / LEGO connection. Perhaps the union is meant to function as a metaphor to emphasize the building blocks of music. Or maybe it's just cross-marketing gone berserk.

Daily Grind: Determined

Name: Vin (aka flummox the lummox)
How Vin feels today: Determined @ 10:05:00 AM
What Vin really wants today: Knock out some looming work projects and other small web-related tasks that I want off my plate as soon as possible.

Music Stuck in Head: Yellow Submarine / The Beatles
I've been playing a lot of Beatles: Rock Band lately.

Stuff to do today:

  • Continue coding furiously to hit upcoming work deadline
  • When not coding attempt to mockup a new DotComic
  • Yes, I'm still attempting to add new entries to that section
  • Note that Beatles: Rock Band is a lot of fun - although kind of short
  • 45 songs? That's it? Where is Day in the Life or HELP?
  • The answer will be revealed in DLC format
  • Continue messing around with Snow Leopard
  • (which also happens to be the but of the soon-to-be-penned DotComic entry)

What's actually a surprise from an IndustryGamers report on the matter is that even in our crummy economy, it's the $250 version of the game -- bundled with all the instruments -- that's performing so well that Dauman says he expects a sellout by November.
