Sources in a position to know tell me Apple is indeed planning a media event later this month at which the company will announce a major new product. The gathering is to be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, a space Apple often uses for media events like this.

Marvel stockholders decide to go ahead and approve the Disney merger.Marvel stockholders decide to go ahead and approve the Disney merger.

Disney officially has the rights to over five thousand of your favorite Marvel comic book characters. You can expect to see most of these characters in the next Kingdom Hearts game or at the very least some kind of Disney versus Marvel Street Fighter type game (which actually sounds kind of cool come to think of it).

Ten technologies that will somehow manage to rock 2010.Ten technologies that will somehow manage to rock 2010.

This covers all the bases that you've probably heard about somehow. For example, the soon-to-be-released-not-so-fabled-after-all Apple tablet, the perils of net neutrality, the hazy goodness of cloud computing, and mind altering views that you can see with some augmented reality. Woohoo.

Engadget pulls the curtain back on their very own iPhone app.Engadget pulls the curtain back on their very own iPhone app.

I've just downloaded this and it's not too shabby overall. If you're like me and pop over to Engadget at least once a day this should save you some time (or waste time depending on how you look at it). Lastly, I find the iPhone app to be a little easier on the eyes than their current website design (yech).

Gee, this wouldn't have anything to do with a certain company coming out with a certain product that may or may not be tablet-related does it? Maybe this is a clue that Verizon will have something to do with the impending iSlate? Maybe it's just wishful thinking.

According to MacRumors, Steve Jobs is quite happy with how the device turned out. There's also that little rumor going around about a media event at the end of January in which Apple has asked certain developers to convert their apps to 'full-screen' use.

A collection of the most popular free Mac downloads of 2009.A collection of the most popular free Mac downloads of 2009.

Some interesting bits of free software to try out if you haven't already. I still haven't gotten around to testing out Google Chrome on the beloved Mac. I'll be giving that a whirl today. Also, it's a shame that Magnifique doesn't work with Snow Leopard - would've liked to try that one out as well.

For some time Microsoft has tried to muscle onto the iPhone. In August Microsoft app developers made it possible for third-party iPhone app developers to integrate Bing into their offerings by providing a software developers kit (SDK).

'Sampler' in my opinion, is the wrong word in this case as Apple is essentially giving away TWENTY tracks of free holiday music. Head on over to iTunes and snatch this up while it's still available. You'll get to hear Weezer do a rocking rendition of 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas'.
