The ten most surprising things about the Apple iPad according to Yahoo. The ten most surprising things about the Apple iPad according to Yahoo.

Today, though, I was finally able to put Skype on the iPad to the test: I loaded it up, logged into my (for-pay) Skype Out account, and dialed 777-FILM. The next thing I heard? 'Hello, welcome to Moviefone!

A jailbreak was virtually expected following the iPad's launch, but the rapid discovery has shown that the iPhone 3.2 firmware used on the device hasn't patched all of the security holes that were present in the 3.1.3 code.

Walt Mossberg's review of the Apple iPad now online.Walt Mossberg's review of the Apple iPad now online.

It's qualitatively different, a whole new type of computer that, through a simple interface, can run more-sophisticated, PC-like software than a phone does, and whose large screen allows much more functionality when compared with a phone's.

Daily Grind: Picky

Name: Vin (aka mr. critical)
How Vin feels today: Picky @ 3:08:46 PM
What Vin really wants today: Continue nit-picking at certain designs and also learning all about the wonders of objective-c coupled with Cocoa Touch as I attempt to publish some kind of iPhone app... hopefully this year.

Music Stuck in Head: Imogene / God Street Wine
The trend continues yet again. Also doesn't help that I'm building an archival site centered around the very same musical group at the very same time.

Stuff to do today:

  • See if that Tron DVD has finally arrived from Netflix
  • Proceed to introduce said Tron movie to other half who has never actually seen it
  • Brace self for nerdy onslaughts
  • Find more time to play Final Fantasy XIII
  • My take so far? Quite boring
  • ...and this review sums it up quite perfectly
  • Find more time to continue plugging away at iPhone app
  • Find more time to continue that other archive-based project
  • Find more time in general

Google intends to open its TV platform, which is based on its Android operating system for smartphones, to software developers. The company hopes the move will spur the same outpouring of creativity that consumers have seen in applications for cellphones.

Fake Steve Jobs to get his very own half-hour television sitcom.Fake Steve Jobs to get his very own half-hour television sitcom.

What makes this interesting is the addition one of the staff writers from 'Seinfeld' who will be pitching in on development of the series. Bring in the Mossberg puppet as the cranky neighbor and you've got a hit show.

Sure, it's a minor inconvenience when the battery in your Apple device won't hold a charge but in this case at least you'll be getting an entirely new device when and if it actually fails. The swap will set you back $99 bucks (plus shipping).

Three reasons as to why the iPad won't see a quick price drop after it's release.Three reasons as to why the iPad won't see a quick price drop after it's release.

This should be pretty easy to figure out especially if you happened to be an early iPhone adopter (such as myself) from way back in 2007.  One would conclude that Apple y wouldn't repeat the same mistake although it was nice quite nice to get some free Apple money.
