But what Palm should really do is to make an iTunes rival, a media-playing, content-syncing, Amazon MP3-friendly application. And it should make it work not just with the Pre, but with any device you might own, including the iPhone.

The kid has got himself a brief, Jay Edelson, who is a lawyer in Chicago, and he has filed a class action lawsuit seeking punitive damages for those affected by the deletion as well as an injunction to prevent Amazon from improperly accessing Kindles in the future.

Amazon.com is now the proud owner of web shoe store, Zappos.Amazon.com is now the proud owner of web shoe store, Zappos.

The deal, Amazon's biggest acquisition yet, calls for Amazon to pay for the shoe, apparel and accessories company with about 10 million shares of stock. Amazon values that at roughly $807 million, based on its average closing price in the 45 days that ended July 17.

The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, where Amazon is based, claims the covers designed and sold by Amazon to protect the device often end up cracking the Kindle screens due to pressure on the hinge.
