A neat tutorial on how to make your very own melted crayon art.
Going to have to try this out with my kids at some point in the near future. We have enough leftover crayons laying around the house to make several of these.

- Tomato Fibers
Playing with my new FujiFilm F550 EXR. Loving it so far, it's nice to be able to capture a shot like this using a mid-range point and shoot. Bonus: used the camera's EXR mode for this which automatically detected that I was attempting a macro shot and adjusted internal settings accordingly. Take that, manual settings!

Fourteen hilarious photos of dog faces to brighten up your afternoon.
I'm going to preface this link description with the following advisory message: if you have found that your afternoon is sufficiently bright enough already than by all means feel free to bookmark this link for later. Otherwise, if the brightness levels are not at the required level of preferred enjoyability then go ahead and view some dog-foolery with this collection of canine camera work. OMG, cupcake!

Some photos of an amazing three-dimensional street mural for your dizzying pleasure.
The folks over at WebUrbanist have uncovered some awesome photos of a street illusion over in Stockholm. There are some videos over on their site in which the artist gives a behind the scenes look at how the overall effect was achieved. Last interesting note: traditionally sidewalk or street art is done in chalk but this installation was pulled off using massively printed sheets (to achieve the photo-realism element of the project).

Fourteen amazing and unexpected urban art installations for you to gawk at.
It's not every day that you get to see a phone booth murdered in the name of art. This and other interesting bits of eye candy can be viewed over on the source article by way of the folks over at WebUrbanist. The melted ice cream truck half-way down the page get's the runner up award in my book. My favorite is the 900-pound box man, it reminds of the near-impossible yellow boss you had to beat before Dr. Wiley in Mega Man.

Enemies from Super Mario Brothers re-imagined with some frightening twists.
Always wondered what the enemies from Super Mario Brothers might look like in real life? Artist Mike Puncekar draws some of these awesome (though sometimes a bit creepy) illustrations for your viewing pleasure. Although the link above will point you over to Geekologie, you should have a look at his other amazing work detailed on his website.

New York City Street View circa 1982.
This is an awesome project and it makes for a glorious way to pass the time. Case in point: I am currently taking a stroll down Lexington Avenue in the year 1982 while actually sitting in an office on Lexington Avenue in 2011. My brain may very well implode any minute. Big kudos to the creator Dan Weeks for putting this together. Wow.

Some amazing photos of that pesky volcanic ash for you to gawk at.
If you happened to be doing some overseas traveling over the past few days you might have noticed a delay or two (possibly more numerous than that). While this would've made for a really good excuse to justify the lack of recent GLM postings, sadly (or happily - depending how you look at it) it wasn't the case. More on that later.

- Sunrise Over Ontario
Slightly grainy shot captured recently whilst engaged in a weekend quick trip over the border. Should also be noted that this photo was taken with my trusty and newly updated iPhone 3GS which takes pretty good photos now that they've added that handy autofocus feature.

Fifty incredible works of coffee and latte art for your viewing pleasure.
My cup of coffee is looking downright boring after seeing some of the offerings in this collection but caffeine is caffeine and it certainly gets the job done regardless of artistic merit. For those interested in making their very own coffee art a tutorial is just waiting for you around the corner.
