- Some self-help advice for those of you looking to improve upon your self-improvement needs.
I've been reading a lot of Coding Horror lately. This particular post resonated with me a lot more than I initially thought it would. It might be because there is a lot of noise these days (read Internet noise: twitter, facebook, work emails, etc) to distract me from a given task at hand (either that or my perpetual procrastination). If you happen to be in need of some motivational advice this will prove to be a good read.

No matter what kind of development you do, at least three of these sites will be helpful to you in some kind of programming endeavor. I've just recently discovered the browser sandbox over at Spoon.net (though I'm a still little partial to IETester).

- Eleven tips for making for your home (or work) office more comfortable.
This article seems to be geared to freelancers probably because the source website is all about freelancing. Well, I say nay to that my friends. This article can cross freelancer/worker lines and apply to anyone who happens to have an office at their job as well. I need more plants.

- The Big Dipper constellation gets an upgrade via brand new star addition.
Alcor, the bright star that forms the bend in the dipper's 'handle,' has a dim red dwarf star orbiting it. They've put out this very pretty image, in which Alcor is renamed Alcor A, and its newly-found satellite star is called Alcor B.

- Ten questions you should never stop asking according to Forbes.
The headline was a misleading as I thought Forbes was referring to ten existential questions you should never stop asking yourself. Turns out they just meant it from a business point of view. Oh well.

- The dos and don'ts for buying refurbished electronics.
Some quick tips on whether or not purchasing a refurbished (in some cases slightly used) product is right for you. I'm also of the theory that sticking with a major brand (ie Best Buy, Apple) is a safe bet to make in this case.

- A handy tutorial on finding out how much sleep you actually need.
This tutorial has some tests you can perform in the comfort and safety of your own home to determine if more sleep is required. However, if you need more than twelve hours of sleep, you may have a medical condition (not kidding).

- Want to know what the best sounds for getting work done are?
It depends on whether your office or workspace is noisy enough that a good kind of noise or music is preferable to the natural cacophony. It depends on your personal attention span, and how likely you are to fiddle with controls versus letting a music stream trickle past your ears.
