Panic takes a look at the magic behind the album art color schemes in iTunes 11.If you've used iTunes 11 you may have noticed the adaptive colors used in some of your favorite albums. Apple could have just displayed a thumbnail and used the same colors for text everywhere but instead chose to theme each album to go along with it's individual art. This kind of little touch is really what has always se Apple apart from the rest. The good folks at Panic delve into the kind of programming and logic that may have gone into this kind of display paradigm. It's a great read even if you aren't a developer but its an even greater read if you because they include sample code.

Yahoo pulls the curtain back on a brand new version of their mail client.Definetly looking forward to giving this a whirl as I'm starting to grow weary of the GMail interface these days. Microsoft Outlook, which I use for work, is moderately simple yet has power features for people (such as myself) who are little overboard in terms of organization. I'd also like to point that GMail's labels versus folders paradigm does absolutely nothing for me. GMail looks like a stream of people shouting at me.

Bret Victor's not-so-brief rant on the future of interaction design. If you haven't seen Microsoft's video entailing what they think the future of technology holds, you should watch it (readily available on source URL as an embedded clip). So watch that video and then read Victor's thoughts on the matter. That being said, I do have a minor point of contention. I did get some hands-on time with a Kinect-enabled Xbox 360 this past weekend and it was a fun, dare I say, semi-magical experience. I highly reccomend Double Fine's Once Upon a Monster (even the demo is fun).

Have a peek at the future look of the Firefox user interface straight from Mozilla. There are some design concepts you may easily recognize if you happen to already be a Google Chrome user. Also, there seems to be a couple dashes of Safari thrown in there as well for good measure (although anytime you add the Mac traffic lights on a mockup I come to that conclusion). For those interested the developer tools have a brand new look as well, could be quite useful.

Vimeo now available on your Apple TV thanks to latest software update.Vimeo has some great HD content, it's nice to see this appear on the little black TV box from Apple. Besides the welcomed support of Vimeo to this little device, you can also stream your purchased television shows directly from the cloud. This will work for your previously purchased television shows as well which is nice.

Sponsored tweets from companies you follow will be appearing more often in your Twitter timeline. If you use a Twitter and you happen to follow of lot of name brand companies you'll be seeing what that particular company has to say front and center. Sponsored tweets from said companies will appear at the top of your timeline and can be easily dismissed with a click. This seems like a good idea in theory, if I'm following a given company on Twitter one would think that what they have to say would be relevant to my interests (in theory of course). In theory you could also follow me on Twitter (@subwarm), and no - there will not be sponsored messages from me or GLM (not intentionally anyway).
