Reddit founders officially announce their departure from Reddit.
I'm a huge fan of Reddit - and you should be too. The content is great and there is always something fresh to look at in a variety of categories. The commentary is insightful and at times laugh out loud hilarious. Hopefully, nothing will really change (the founders make that quite plain in aforementioned blog post).

Want to know what the world searched for in 2012? There's a Google Zeitgeist for that.
They even prepared a little video with inspirational music to go along with it. How very Google of them.

Yahoo pulls the curtain back on a brand new version of their mail client.
Definetly looking forward to giving this a whirl as I'm starting to grow weary of the GMail interface these days. Microsoft Outlook, which I use for work, is moderately simple yet has power features for people (such as myself) who are little overboard in terms of organization. I'd also like to point that GMail's labels versus folders paradigm does absolutely nothing for me. GMail looks like a stream of people shouting at me.

Wired would like you to know Amazon's Jeff Bezos owns more of the web than you think.
An interesting read for those of you who want to have a little more insight as to just what Amazon does these days on the Interwebs besides selling everything under the sun. There's an interesting chart about half-way down he page that discusses how some important companies rely on Amazon's web services to power their products. If AWS shut off today, well - it's best not to think about it.

Sponsored tweets from companies you follow will be appearing more often in your Twitter timeline.
If you use a Twitter and you happen to follow of lot of name brand companies you'll be seeing what that particular company has to say front and center. Sponsored tweets from said companies will appear at the top of your timeline and can be easily dismissed with a click. This seems like a good idea in theory, if I'm following a given company on Twitter one would think that what they have to say would be relevant to my interests (in theory of course). In theory you could also follow me on Twitter (@subwarm), and no - there will not be sponsored messages from me or GLM (not intentionally anyway).

Research finds that for every minute there are 48 hours of video footage uploaded to YouTube.
Moore also cites the dramatic increase in content as a major reason for the expanded viewership. Forty-eight hours of footage are uploaded to YouTube every minute, adding up to nearly 8 years of content daily. And YouTube isn’t just for the young crowd. Even though YouTube lists its demographic as 18-54 years old, Pew found that nearly one-third of online Americans age 65 and older uses video sharing sites. Parents are also 20 percentage points more likely to have used a video sharing site than non-parents.

Old Spice commercial guys to do battle via Internet popularity contest.
Dear Old Spice, there is no need for a contest here. Isaiah Mustafa should be your permanent spokesman. If you want more information other than the previous two sentences know that Mustafa's opponent happens to be none other than Fabio. You can watch some of the back and forth videos between Mustafa and Fabio over on Mashable. It's all in the delivery. Night vision top hat!

Facebook gets a healthy dose of Skype and adds a helping of group chat for good measure.
Good news to those of you who spend all day on Facebook. You now have even more reason to hang out there thanks to the inclusion of video conference calling and group chats. Facebook bills this new feature as 'bringing conversations to life'. I think they would have better served had they gone with my way of marketing it as 'enhanced procrastination'.

Microsoft to give Hotmail service a makeover at some point this summer.
...users will encounter a first screen that’s on overview of new messages, sorted into categories, with e-mails from known contacts in the top heap, updates from services like Facebook and Twitter at the bottom, and a bar up top that lets you send a status message.

Square Enix did quite well this year with their multi-million selling titles.
One of those titles happened to be Final Fantasy XIII, a game that literally makes you literally click one button for ten plus hours and nothing else. On the flip side, if you manage to stick it out past the twenty hour mark the game begins to get somewhat enjoyable.
